Apple Pie & Dessert Contest Rules

​

  •  Each participant may submit only once.

  • There will be two categories: 1. Apple Pies 2.Apple Dessert

  • Two pies/desserts of the same recipe for the contest and the pies must be in a disposable pie tins or pans.

  •  Pie must be entered in the name of the person who baked it. NOTE: The submitted pie becomes the property of Crow River Winery.

  • Store bought pastry shells, crusts, and fillings are expressly prohibited.

  • Submissions must be baked using FRESH FRUIT only.

  • Each pie must be submitted with Registration Form, recipe on a 4x6 inch index card between 11 a.m. – Noon. in the Harvest Hall.

  • The judging will take place at 1:00pm. After judging, remaining portions of judged pies will be sold by the slice - all proceeds will benefit the Scott/Carver Humane Society.

  • If you are a winner, you give your permission to have your photo taken during the announcement ceremony and have it used for promotional materials. 

  • Judging will start at about 1:00pm. Minimum of three judges per category will judge by the following:

    • Overall appearance ï‚·

    • Crust ï‚·

    • Taste Scoring

  • Each judge assigns a numerical value (1-10) in each criteria category, without consultation with the other judges. The pie and dessert receiving the highest total numerical value is the winner.

  • In the case of a tie, the judges will judge those pies again.

  • Winners will be announced in each category after the judging is complete.
